New local plan for West Dorset
« on: June 12, 2012, 09:07:06 AM »
WDDC have just published a draft planning policy for the next twenty years.  It includes proposals to allow the building of 9,400 new homes across the district in this time with large developments of 1,100+ in Dorchester, Crossways and Chickerell.

You can find the whole rather large document at http://www.dorsetforyou.com/newlocalplan/west/weymouth

If you go to the Local Plan Text the relevant proposed new policies are in sections 2 and 3.

District Councillors kept that quiet, didn't they  :-P

It certainly makes interesting reading. I first read it a couple of weeks a go when it first appeared. The main point sof development for Chickerell are the school hill area and the fields around, eventually leading to houses all the way from the new floods development to the school area. This isn't a massive surprise as this has been on the cards for many years. It is also worth noting how a new road would need to be built linking from the Chickerell link road to School Hill and then on to Chickerell Hill. It would certainly change Chickerell, a lot like the Chickerell Down's development did. But for good or bad remains to be seen.
